Singing Bowl Information
The two types of singing bowls that are used are antique and new bowls. They are used for many different things like Meditation, yoga, music therapy, sound healing (vibrational healing), religious services, and for personal enjoyment. Tibetan singing bowls are used to help with deep relaxation, stress reduction, holistic healing Reiki and chakra balancing. It is believed that the harmonic overtones which are produced by the bowls helps put the brain in a meditative state. Singing bowls produce the same wavelength found in the brainwaves that produce feelings of relaxation.
The Tibetan singing bowl is an ancient meditation tool often used within Buddhism to accompany mudras, prayers and hymns. When a bowl is struck gently by a wooden mallet or stick, a vibration can be felt in throughout the body. It is said that the vibration you feel draws out negative energy from your body. Singing bowls are traditionally constructed of seven metals gold, silver, mercury, copper, iron, tin and lead which correspond to the seven planets. The pitch that the bowls creates depends on the thickness, size and weight of it. The tones the bowls give off are a frequency that creates a balancing left-right brain synchronization. The Singing bowls are said to have been used all the way backlights in the 10th-12th century AD. They are used all throughout the Himalayas in monasteries and homes to aid meditation. Over the years the bowls have made their way to the West where they are used in mediation and being prescribed by alternative health practitioners because of the positive feedback.
